Muse Avatar System

Muse lets you name your assistant and make it look the way you like. I was part of the team that built the avatar system behind it, so that your Muse feels more personal, like your own assistant.

The work was a mix of world-building and scaling it so that many, many people could create and own their Muse. Every part of it was new to me.

  • I led the character definition effort. Coming from a background with nothing to do with character creation, I learned the craft in close collaboration with the creative team. We iterated on the "DNA" of a Muse character, starting with the default characters users would first meet and growing from there.

  • I defined the set of animations, worked with creative directors to direct and adapt to different models for video generations.

  • I also drove the scaling work. I went deep on system prompt engineering across different models, then built bespoke tools and evals to test generation at scale. The goal was a creation flow that felt magical, not mechanical.

  • I built bespoke tools to generate (for the pipeline to actually serve pre-generated avatar to users), eval avatars.

Muse is out in web, iOS and Android.
